First Make-Up Experiment

When I was a little girl, I always was interested in mother’s toilet table. There was a lot of interesting and unfamiliar stuff for me. There were a lot of mysterious colored jars, attractive boxes and tubes which help to save beauty When my mother wasn’t at home I learned and tried everything.

My mother always took care for herself. She had a lot of different cosmetics at home. She spent big money on it and always had a bright make-up on her face, but nevertheless it perfectly suited her. I always tried to follow my mother in everything, dress, style, make-up. And now I have as much cosmetics as my mother had. But once when I was about seven years old, my mother went to her friend’s birthday party. I knew that she wouldn’t come back soon and I had a lot of time for having fun. I decided to apply a make-up. I wanted to test on myself what is it beauty. Of course I was too young and I didn’t know all rules how to apply make-up. So, I put a lot of powder and rouge to my face, applied red lipstick and blue eye shadow. And when I looked to the mirror I even scared a little. It was my first experiment. Then I began to play with my dolls and didn’t mention how my mother returned home. When she saw me, she was terrible and angry that I took her stuff. With the help of soothing fluid make-up remover she cleaned my face and put me to bed. She didn’t punish me (she had never punished me), but nevertheless next time when I dared to take her cosmetics was my sixteen’s birthday. Than my mother first time presented me a set for young ladies. It was a cosmetics bag. There were a light-pink lipstick, little mirror, a rouge and a bottle of perfume. And only then I finally understood what the word beauty means.
